Pattern Maker

Overview Pattern Maker turns any image or sticker into a seamless tile you can use for game art, web backgrounds, textiles, prints, or UI textures. This release includes two Windows builds: a free demo executable and a fully-featured Pro executable. The Demo lets users evaluate the interface and output quality while the Pro build unlocks advanced background removal, batch export, high-resolution output and production-ready features.

What’s Included

• pattern-maker-demo.exe — Demo executable (limited): bundled with the app, safe to distribute freely.
• pattern-maker-pro.exe — Pro executable (full): production version with all tools enabled.

Demo vs Pro (quick comparison)

• Demo:
  • Limit: Tile size capped at 512 px.
  • Watermark: All saved tiles include a visible “DEMO” watermark.
  • Disabled: OpenCV GrabCut (advanced background removal) and batch export are disabled.
  • Purpose: Let users test UX, tweak sliders, and validate output before buying.
• Pro:
  • Full size: Supports tiles up to 2048 px (and higher if you want).
  • Advanced removal: Optional OpenCV GrabCut with adjustable iterations for cleaner cutouts.
  • Batch export: Export multiple sizes at once (PNG/JPG).
  • No watermark: Clean exports suitable for production use.

• Background removal: White/threshold removal (both builds) with optional OpenCV GrabCut (Pro) for better results on complex images.
• Seamless tiling: The generator ensures tiles are seamless by wrapping draws across edges.
• Controls & presets: Scale, spacing, rotation jitter, horizontal jitter, upward motion, overlap (“sticker pile”) mode, filler color and density, alpha dilation, and auto-trim.
• Live preview: Debounced live preview while adjusting sliders for quick iteration.
• Export options: Save PNG/JPEG; Pro supports batch export to multiple sizes.
• Demo safeguards: Demo enforces size and feature limits and watermarks outputs to prevent full production use.

System Requirements & Notes

• Windows 10/11 recommended. The executables are single-file builds created with PyInstaller and bundle Python, PyQt6, Pillow, numpy and (for Pro) OpenCV.
• Size: Expect the Pro build to be significantly larger because OpenCV and Qt are bundled. If you want a smaller demo, I can rebuild the demo without OpenCV to shrink the download.
• Redistributables: On some machines you may need the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable installed if DLLs are missing. Typical platform portability issues are resolved by including the redistributable in your installer or in a release note.

How to evaluate the Demo

• Open the demo exe, load your sticker (or use the built-in demo), and test:
  • Trim and clean the artwork with the auto-trim and alpha dilation tools.
  • Tweak spacing, rotation jitter, and overlap to see how patterns tile.
  • Export a single tile (watermarked) to check seams on the surface you’ll use it on.
• If the output looks good and you need Pro features, upgrade to Pro.
